Have you ever wondered why I became a Mississippi wedding photographer? I know some have, and I want to share with you the heart behind my business and why I genuinely believe a photograph is worth way more than a thousand words.

The Heart Behind My Business

Some people know this, and some don’t. I lost my father, grandfather, and great-grandmother within a few weeks of each other when I was 9 years old. They were all unexpected and random.

Since that day, almost 16 years ago (still can’t believe that), photographs are no longer just photos to me. They are a way to cherish memories, step back in time, and relive the moments we cherish most.

God carried me through those deep waters to bring me to a more purposeful life. He made it clear to me what I was called to do- to love and serve His people by capturing love and showing just how important photographs are. I know, from experience, how IMPORTANT photos are.

I never thought the last photos I would have of my dad and papa would be the ones taken at the family gathering on the old, worn-out sofa or the church directory photo against the harsh royal blue wall.

The Last Photos I Have:

The photos are horrible quality.

The lighting is bad.

The memory is priceless.

As I grew up, I realized the value of a photograph and what it meant to me. I started taking more and more of them because I never wanted to forget the happy moments life gives us.

My hubby, Jayce, used to be in the Marine Corps. He left for months at a time while also deploying overseas. Having photographs to look at, feel close to, and remember, made it bearable. Photographs are a way to feel close to someone even when they aren’t there.

All this to say: Memories fade, time is a thief, and life moves way too fast, but when you are curled up on your couch looking above your fireplace at the beautiful husband and wife portrait of you two, you will not regret your decision to invest in timeless, romantic, joyful photographs that stand the test of time. Trust me, friend!
